Isasama ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa master plan ng gagawing rehabilitasyon sa Boracay Island ang Carabao Island, Romblon.
Ayon sa statement ni Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu na iniulat ng Business World, ang revision umano na kanilang gagawin sa master plan ng pagpapasara ng Boracay ay para mas mapalago ang turismo sa rehiyon.
Within that period, we intend to put in place what we might call the ‘First aid’ solution to Boracay’s problems: […] putting the sewage and solid waste systems in place; demolish illegal structures, whether big or small – in the foreshore, on wetlands, in forest lands or even within road easements,” pahayag ni Cimatu.
Batay sa report, kasama na sa master plan ng rehab ng Boracay ang mga lugar ng Carabao Island sa Romblon, Caticlan, at Malay sa Aklan.
Wala pang malinaw na pahayag ang Department of Environment and Natural Resources kaugnay sa maaring conection ng master plan sa lalawigan ng Romblon.
