Senior citizens (SCs) and persons with co-morbidities remained the most vulnerable populations to hospitalization and Covid-19 related deaths, authorites at the Regional Task Force on Covid 19 Mimaropa said recently.
During last week’s RTF meeting, the Department of Health Center for Health Mimaropa bared the huge gap between vaccinated and unvaccinated elders as well as those who have long time ailments.
As of August 25, 2021 data, Mimaropa has targeted 261,565 senior citizens (Priority Group A1) but only 81,291 completed their vaccination.
About 69,869 senior citizens had their first dose.
“We need to protect the most vulnerable populations, this is our senior citizens. Morbidity is high among them most especially now that the Delta variant is present in the region.,” Medical Officer IV Mathew Medrano said, “that’s why we need to give them prioritization that we have.”
For Priority Group A3 (individuals with co-morbidities), the master-listed reached 507,660 but those who have completed vaccination was only 100,040 and about 74,928 got their first dose.
The region likewise registered 489,107 front-liners in the essential sectors (Priority Group A4: workers and others).
Out of that number, 17,087 completed vaccination and 54,301 have their first dose.
Thirty-one thousand, nine hundred ninety-eight (31,998) have been registered under the poor population (Priority Group A5); 18,463 have completed vaccination and those who got their first dose reached 3,488.
As for the A1 population or health care workers, 41,690 have completed their vaccinations, nearly 100%.
The remaining HCWs in the master-listed 46, 120 are now waiting for their second doses.
Mimaropa also have Expanded A1 (10,755): these are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and families of HCWs who spent time in Covid 19 referral hospitals and temporary treatment and monitoring facilities.
About 8,674 under the Expanded A1 have completed vaccination while 1,614 are looking forward to their second dose.
All in all, Mimaropa has 267,241 fully vaccinated individuals as of August 25: the number of allocated vaccines in the region is about 291,172.
