“This mass deworming activity is an effective and inexpensive way to rid of soil-transmitted helminths (STH) such as roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), whipworms (Trichuris trichiura) and hookworms (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale) which are among the most common causes of infection among children, especially in the provinces,” ayon kay Dr. Janairo.
“Children are prone to acquiring infection because they are usually exposed when playing outside their homes. They can easily contract eggs of soil-transmitted helminths by touching or holding contaminated soil around their surroundings such as in areas that lack adequate sanitation” dagdag ni Dr. Janairo.
“It is best to practice proper hygiene and always wash hands properly before and after every meal as it is proven to reduce transmission and infection”. ayon kay Dr. Janairo.
